2019 T-EDGE Conference & Awards opens in Daxing

The 2019 T-EDGE Conference & Awards kicked off in Daxing, Beijing on Dec 6, and will run until Dec 8.

More than 100 top global innovators and tech leaders from around the world are attending the conference.

Zhou Liyun, secretary of Daxing District Party Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Under the guidance of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Zhongguancun National Demonstration Zone Management Committee and People's Government of Daxing District of Beijing, the conference was hosted by the TMTPost and the China New Media Development Zone.

T-EDGE, which stands for cutting-edge technologies, tech frontiers and disruptive innovation, is one of the largest annual platforms in China for leading innovators from around the world to meet and exchange ideas.

The T-EDGE conference has been successfully held for six years and is the most highly-anticipated event at TMTPost each year.

Over the past six years, more than 600 innovators from more than 30 countries have stepped onto the T-EDGE stage, and more than 200 innovation enterprises have been linked with new investment and business opportunities.

The T-EDGE Conference & Awards permanently settled in Daxing district in 2018. It has become an important platform for Daxing to build its new international image.

The 2019 conference is themed on “division and consensus”, and will focus on providing opportunities for innovators from all walks of life to explore frontiers and glimpse the future.

The three-day T-EDGE's serial events include the Science and Technology Globalization Forum, China-Japan International Cooperation Industry Forum, International Summit of Industrial Science and Technology, New Financial Summit, Chainlights China Summit, and the 2019 T-EDGE Innovation Contest.

Guests from the United States, Europe, Japan, Israel and other countries will exchange ideas with China's innovators to inspire technological innovation.

Keynote speeches will be delivered by Dan Shechtman, the Israeli chemist who was awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his discovery of quasicrystals; George Franklin Gilder, an American investor, writer, economist, techno-utopian advocate and co-founder of the Discovery Institute; Shai Moshe Piron, educator and former minister of the Israeli Ministry of Education; Rose Luckin, a professor of Learner Centred Design at the UCL Knowledge Lab in London; and Dan Catarivas, director general of Foreign Trade and International Relations at the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel.

The newly-opened Beijing Daxing International Airport has built an interactive platform for industrial development.

Daxing district has always spared no effort in optimizing its business environment.

The China New Media Development Zone has attracted more than 4,000 enterprises and has built an industrial area centered on scientific and technological innovation, cultural creativity and digital economy.

The 2019 T-EDGE Conference& Awards has added innovative energy to Beijing and Daxing, and has provided a platform for in-depth exchanges between domestic and foreign technological innovation enterprises and investors.
