The Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone (Beijing area) introduced a plan for international community construction on Sept 23, aiming to attract high-end talents from around the world.

Based on a city-industry integration concept, the construction will provide a customized livable environment that is convenient for residents’ life and work and supports the area’s aviation and life and health industries.

At first, the area drew on the experience of international livable cities and communities -- such as Singapore, Seattle, Sydney, Frankfurt and Tokyo -- to enhance its public service system.

Last year, Daxing district in Beijing invited Surbana Jurong Singapore, an Asian-based urban infrastructure provider, to participate in the planning.

Inclusive housing solutions will be offered to talents of different ages, nationalities and needs. Different types of residential units are expected to include luxury flats, co-living spaces and business district apartments linked to retail shops along the streets.

Medical care and education resources will be available. The construction will have access to basic infrastructure services within a radius of 800 meters.

Meanwhile, services are also being improved on schedule to ensure an all-round livable environment. People will be able to enjoy international schools, foreign language cinemas, green corridors, autonomous property management, and local creation activities in the area.

Notably, smart applications are being added to public transportation to facilitate commuting for talents. The overall design encourages healthy and environmentally-friendly travel nodes such as walking and cycling.
