In October, 2012, with the approval of the State Council, the planned area of Fengtai Park was adjusted to 17.63 square kilometers consisting of 11 blocks, namely, east area, west area I, west area II, Science & Technology Hatch Street as well as Lize area, Yongdinghe north area, Yongdinghe south area, Erqi Automobile Factory, Erqi Machinery Plant, Shougang Ertong Industrial Park and the emergency rescue area. 

Fengtai Park presents a characteristics of "two 'mains', two 'auxiliaries' and multi-feature". "Two 'mains'" refers to its two major leading industries: rail transportation and space equipment; "Two 'auxiliaries'" means two major auxiliary industries: biological medicine and engineering service; "Multi-feature" refers to its several featured industries such as emergency relief, energy-saving and environmental protection, as well as its large potential of military and civilian integration industries. The park has become a headquarters economic zone with active innovation and concentrated elements, an important high-tech industrial base in Beijing and a core urban economic functional zone of Fengtai District. At present, there are more than 1,680 high-tech enterprises in Fengtai Park, among them CRRC, CRSC, CREC, TCT, HAIGE, Yuan Liu Hong Yuan and BNIBT. Preliminary statistics show that in 2018, the park's total enterprise income was 558 billion yuan and the total profit was 42 billion yuan. Next, Fengtai Park will focus on the development of such industries as railway transportation and aerospace and actively foster science and technology services, smart cities, and advanced carbon materials.
