TikTok tops global mobile app download list

ByteDance's short video application TikTok and its Chinese version Douyin, topped the global mobile app download list in July, with the most downloads from the US, Sina Finance reported on Monday.

Data from market analyst Sensor Tower shows TikTok and its Chinese version Douyin ranked first in the global mobile application (non-game) download list in July this year, with more than 65.2 million downloads, an increase of 21.4 percent over the same period in 2019.

The United States was the short video application's largest download market during this period, accounting for 9.7 percent, followed by Indonesia, accounting for 8.5 percent.

TikTok and its Chinese version Douyin took a leading role on the lists of overall downloads, App Store downloads and Google Play downloads in July, according to data from Sensor Tower.

On the overall downloads list, Facebook ranked second with 53.6 million downloads, followed by Zoom, Instagram and WhatsApp.

On the App Store downloads list, YouTube grabbed second place, followed by Instagram, Zoom and WhatsApp.

On the Google Play downloads list, Facebook gained the second spot with Zoom, WhatsApp and Instagram ranked third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Snack Video entered the top 10 global mobile app download list for the first time, ranking eighth after TikTok went off India's App Store and Google Play on June 29.

The downloads of Snack Video reached 28.8 million in July, 3.7 times of June's 7.8 million, the report said.

Data in the ranking does not include Android channels from a third-party in China and other regions, according to Sensor Tower.
