On 16 March, 2022, after voting by the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 1st Council of NEXT Federation, Mr Tony Browne was elected as the Chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation, and Mr Yingxiang (William) Zhao was elected as the Executive Chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation.
Tony Browne had taken positions as New Zealand Ambassador to China, Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs & Trade and Executive Chair of the New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre. He had been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand for a long time.
Yingxiang (William) Zhao is one of the major initiators of NEXT Federation and its predecessor namely Oceasia Silk Road Network. He was previously the Chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation.
