In the current wave of globalization, China plays an important role in economic, trade, research and development, and investment. It is believed that China can make further contributions to the world in terms of globalization, said Song Liuping during the 16th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum.
Profile:
In 1983, Song Liuping began his studies at the National University of Defense Technology, where he obtained his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in electronics and communications. From 1994 to 1996, Song pursued postdoctoral research in electronics and communications at the Beijing Institute of Technology.
Song joined Huawei in 1996 and has since taken multiple managerial positions related to product strategy planning, external cooperation, intellectual property (IP) rights, standards, information security and legal affairs.
Under his leadership, Huawei has filed more than 70,000 patent applications worldwide over the past two decades. As chief compliance officer, Song has played a leading role in establishing a compliance system (including trade compliance) from the ground up.
Song has been deeply involved in Huawei's negotiation and cooperation regarding intellectual property rights and critical projects. He has led or participated in several projects in which Huawei cooperated with companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Motorola, Nortel Networks and Siemens.
Song has also served as an expert on China's Intellectual Property Rights Strategic Advisory Committee and intellectual property rights advisory committees of the Shanghai and Guangdong governments.
He has appeared three times on the list of the 50 Most Influential People in IP, which is compiled by the UK magazine Managing IP, and was also selected as one of China's 10 Most Influential People in Intellectual Property Rights Protection.
