"I hope that more people who engage in intellectual property teaching and research, with interdisciplinary and international ideas, can have enough of a research basis to cope with the new scientific and technological revolution, especially with the emergence of a number of new IP challenges," said Shan Xiaoguang during the 16th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum.

Shan Xiaoguang received his bachelor's degree in geophysical exploration at Central South University of Technology (now Central South University) in 1982, his master's degree in philosophy of science and technology at Central South University of Technology in 1988, and his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law in Munich, Germany, in 2000.

Shan has achieved many honors, including second prize at the fifth national intellectual property (patent) excellent research report and excellent soft science research results in 2007 and 2013, and the grand prize at the 2012 Tongji University teaching achievements.
