Nanshan district in Shenzhen is set to issue subsidies to consumers over the next two months in the form of discounts, coupons and raffles, delivered via online platforms.

Hotels, restaurants, and travel agents in Nanshan are boosting their sales with collected coupons and discount messages available via a WeChat mini-program named ‘Yungou Nanshan’, or ‘Cloud Purchasing in Nanshan’.

Meanwhile, 40 industrial companies in the district are setting themselves up on Fenqile, an e-commerce platform supporting purchases made through installments.

Welfare benefits such as subsidy vouchers, allowances, lottery draws, special offers, and interest-free installments are distributed to consumers.

The promotion started on April 25 and will last until June 20. During this period, users can also enter raffles after placing orders via the two online platforms.

Raffle entrants have the chance to win coupons varying in value from 10 ($1.41) to 3,888 yuan. These coupons are valid extensively in the area’s malls, shops, restaurants and more.

In addition, they can also enter a lucky draw every morning at 10am, with prizes ranging from high-tech robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, and TVs to daily necessities such as oil and bedding.

Jointly held by the local commerce department, alongside domestic internet giant Tencent and Chinese online lender Lexin, the stimulus package is one of the steps taken by the local government to facilitate digital commerce and help companies hammered by the COVID-19 outbreak - which is still posing latent risks even as it wanes.
