The “Qingyun” chip series prototype design platform was released on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Public Platform on Nov 15, 2019, at the scene of the China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong province.

In recent years, Shenzhen’s Nanshan district has continued to focus on core technologies.

Looking back at the last 30 years, Nanshan seized the development opportunities in the strategy of serving the country, and did well in adjusting functions of the urban area and in optimizing industrial structures. In this way it advanced along a broad road of higher-quality development.

Its GDP grew from 7.8 billion yuan ($1.10 billion) in 1990 when the district was built to 501.8 billion yuan in 2018, an increase of more than 64 times. In that latter year its per capita GDP was close to $55,000, and its tax revenue per square kilometer exceeded 800 million yuan.

Nanshan has added seven A-share listed companies already this year, accounting for two thirds of the city. It also has the most companies on the Science and Technology Board in the city.

As of Dec 17, 2019, there were 163 listed companies in the district. Among them, knowledge-intensive enterprises show brilliant results in emerging industries such as information technology, biomedicine, Internet of Things and smart grids.

At a work retreat in 2020, Wang Qiang, Secretary of the Nanshan District Committee, stressed the two-wheel drive strategy of “Technological Innovation plus Headquarters Economy”.

Fortune Global 500, China’s Fortune 500 and well-known multinational group enterprises, including Jingdong, Meituan, AVIC International, and MIUI, have come to Nanshan to set up regional and functional headquarters.

As of the end of November in 2019, the district had a total of 504,952 commercial entities and 389,806 incorporated enterprises.

At the sixth Guangdong Patent Awards, 16 of the district’s projects won six golden awards, seven silver awards and three outstanding awards.

Patents are the leading indicator of innovation chains. At present, Nanshan is making every effort to achieve comprehensive innovation.

The business environment is the guide of investment as well as the core of competitiveness. Nanshan won first place in the “2019 Best 100 Model Counties and Cities in China’s Business Environment” at the 14th China Comprehensive Well-off Forum on Dec 28 of 2019.

In recent years, it has adhered to the highest benchmarks, creating a first-class business environment and providing outstanding services for enterprises and talents.

Its adherence to innovation, respect for the rules, care for private enterprises, and commitment to people’s livelihoods have enabled countless talents and innovative enterprises to emerge in the district, forming a “Nanshan model” that meets people’s needs for a better life.
