The 2020 Tongji International Intellectual Property Forum – which had as its theme the "Accelerated Growth of the Digital Economy and IP Protection" -- was held at Tongji University in Shanghai on Oct 21, according to the organizers.

They said the forum was a sub-forum of the 17th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum which opened on Oct 20 and ran to Oct 22.

Rui Wenbiao, director general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and Lei Xinghui, vice president of Tongji University, attended the forum.

Rui said that the digital economy was not only playing an important role in fighting the novel coronavirus and restoring production and people's daily lives, but was also a strong driving force for high-quality economic development. He said the theme of the forum was of practical significance in the post-pandemic era.

Roundtable discussions on the "digital economy and innovation" and the "digital technology and IP law" were held during the event.
