Music fan in Yarkant county of Xinjiang

Mamatali showed us a variety of folk instruments used for performing Muqam, the classical Xinjiang Uyghur music. Yarkant county is renowned as the home of Amanni Shahan, a great ancient musician who compiled and preserved Muqam. Today Yarkant’s young people like Mamatali practice together, continuing the tradition and celebrating the beauty of Muqam.
