Hot spring cultural tourism week kicks off in S. China's Guangxi

A hot spring themed cultural tourism week was kicked off on December 12 in Xiangzhou County of Laibin City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Incorporating with competitions, promotions, exhibitions and other activities, the cultural tourism week aims to strengthen the cultural export of Xiangzhou, promote the economic development of Xiangzhou, and expand the influence of Xiangzhou's cultural and tourism brand.

Gong Zhengzheng, vice mayor of Laibin, made remarks at the opening ceremony that in recent years, relying on rich natural resources, perfect ecological environment and profound cultural heritage, Laibin has vigorously cultivated and supported cultural and tourism industries with ethnic customs and local characteristics.

Xiangzhou will adhere to the development strategy of cultural tourism, strengthen cultural output, boost regional economy, and expand the influence of the Xiangzhou cultural tourism brand, said Wei Tao, head of Xiangzhou County, adding that Xiangzhou is committed to building itself into the first choice for ecological sightseeing tours, rural experience tours, leisure vacation tours and health preservation tours.

Enjoying the reputation of "the first spring in central and south China", Xiangzhou has more than 300 various forms of hot springs, cool springs and other springs, which has been awarded the title of "Spring Capital of China" by the China Water Engineering Association. In 2018, Xiangzhou was selected as one of the Guangxi tourism demonstration zones.

At present, Xiangzhou has basically formed a tourism development pattern characterized by the health preservation of hot springs. From January to September 2020, Xiangzhou received about 1.8262 million tourists and realized tourism consumption of about 1.578 billion yuan.
