Projects to boost development of Qingdao health industry signed
A total of 22 health sector projects worth 17.17 billion yuan ($2.69 billion) was signed on June 3 during the second Global Health Expo of Boao Forum for Asia in Qingdao, Shandong province.
The projects, which are related to high-end medical treatment, smart medical treatment, biomedicine, medical devices, health tourism and other fields, will inject new vitality to Qingdao's health care and medical industry, according to local officials.

Developing the health industry is one of the five major tasks set out in the Outline of the Healthy China 2030 plan. It is also an important factor in the replacement of old growth drivers as well as economic transformation and development.
In recent years, Qingdao's medical and health industry has been spearheading the fostering of new development engines. In 2019, the added value of the city's medical and health industry reached 57.53 billion yuan.
At present, the city has introduced and constructed 21 new large hospital projects with a total investment of 29.8 billion yuan. The average life expectancy of local citizens is 81.16 years, with main health indicators reaching the average level of developed countries in the world.
