Sales have reached a new high of 1.25 billion yuan at a product release meeting and buyers' procurement conference, held recently during the 4th Goji Berry Industry Expo.

The meeting was held on June 24 at Zhongning county, Zongwei city, in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region. It saw the signing of a total of 74 purchase and sale contracts. 

A batch of innovative products such as goji berry pie, goji berry wine, goji berry chocolate, goji berry eye patches and goji berry facial masks appeared one after the other at the release meeting. 

Being one of Ningxia's "business cards", the goji berry industry is a strategic leading industry with local characteristics and good brand recognition.

There are currently more than 240 enterprises engaged in the deep processing of goji berries in Ningxia, and the conversion rate of fresh goji berry processing stands at 25 percent, ranking first in the country. Ningxia goji berry and its derivatives now feature in more than 60 product types in 10 categories. 

Zhongning county is the global birthplace and authentic place of origin of goji berries. The Zhongning goji berry is the only kind that has been authorized for the national authentic Chinese medicinal standard certification.

"In the future, we will closely follow the development direction of the health industry, increase research and development, and promote the concentration of goji berry products down to a more scientific and technological essence," said He Jianbo, head of Zhongning county.

The county will continue to adhere to the path of distinctive branding and international development, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of goji berry planting and processing, product research and development, cultural tourism, and market development. It will also jointly enhance the brand influence and core competitiveness of the Zhongning goji berry.
