Xinyu: A budding global hot spot for lithium

In addition to Ganfeng, Xinyu is now home to over 60 other lithium enterprises. Thirty of them are above designated size and have notched up 2.28 billion yuan in operating revenue in the first three months of 2021, up 53.5 percent year-on-year.

New heights in the lithium industry are being reached in the city, and the industry is gradually achieving cluster development. In 2018, Xinyu released 30 supporting measures targeted on the lithium industry's development.

Steel industry is another economic pillar for Xinyu. It is known as an important steel production base in Jiangxi. Its rolled steel output accounted for 37.45 percent of the province's total in 2020, when the city's steel industry brought in 108.2 billion yuan in annual operating revenue.

A short while ago, Xinyu released its outline of the 14th Five-year Plan (2021-25) for economic and social development and its long-range objectives through 2035. The outline mapped out its three main missions during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The first is to establish a new industrial system, create a new engine of digital economy, and promote the integration of manufacturing and service industries to become a city of powerful new industries in Central China.
