BFSU Marks 80-Day Countdown to 80th Anniversary
On July 8, BFSU marks the 80-day countdown to its 80th anniversary with commemorative activities, including a review of anniversary preparations, the release of cultural and creative souvenirs, a donation ceremony, the launch of the BFSU Global Alumni Virtual Relay Run, and the establishment of the volunteer team.
BFSU Council Chairman Mr. Wang Dinghua called on alumni to actively participate in and provide suggestions and assistance to the anniversary activities, and stay informed of the progress of their Alma Mater. Furthermore, he extended gratitude to Chinese and foreign partner universities, expressed the wish for more exchanges and cooperation to cope with challenges posed by the pandemic, and invited the universities to take part in online and offline anniversary activities. He also encouraged students and faculties of BFSU to work together and overcome difficulties, so as to stage brilliant and distinctive celebrations in September in Beijing, as a proper presentation of BFSU’s achievements to the world.
For the 80th anniversary, BFSU launched a Chinese/English website, activity schedule for the anniversary month, cultural and creative souvenirs, and commemorative philatelic products.
In the donation ceremony, Zhao Rong, General Manager of the philatelic and cultural media department of the Beijing branch of China Post Group Corporation Limited, donated a commemorative envelope specially designed for the 80-day countdown to the anniversary. Jin Yan, Secretary General of Beijing Musical Instrument Society, and Hao Jingchun, the inventor of the reconstructed ancient instrument “Peizhu” donated a Peizhu. Gao Dianliang, the innovator of Chinese paper-cut painting, donated a Chinese style paper-cut scroll painting dedicated to the 80th anniversary. Cheng Huiling, BFSU alumna from the Class of 1981 of the School of German Studies, President of the BFSU Alumni Association at Shanghai, and Chairperson of Citiking Group donated one million RMB for the founding of Cheng Huiling Education and Development Fund.
The donation ceremony was followed by the official launch of the BFSU Global Alumni Virtual Relay Run to celebrate BFSU's journey in the past eight decades. Relay batons and flags were passed to Xin Shaoying, BFSU alumna from the Class of 1979 of the Faculty of French and Francophone Studies, sports producer of China Central Television and well-renowned director; Zhang Dong, BFSU alumnus from the Class of 1999 of the School of Russian, and Deputy Director General of Eurasia Affairs of Ministry of Commerce; Zhuo Yue, the representative of international students; and Yu Guiliang, the representative of students on campus.
A total of 712 volunteers will provide service for the anniversary activities. Mr. Wang Dinghua conferred the team flag to the volunteer team of the 80th anniversary of BFSU.
