Behind the key vision of the 2021 SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine

The key vision of the forum was inspired by Chinese herbal medicine, porcelain, and the Pavilion of Prince Teng - a landmark of Nanchang, capital city of East China's Jiangxi province. The streamers from the SCO logo integrate the three elements into the same painting, aesthetically depicting an ink wash painting.

The picture scroll, based on the beauty of the East, fully displays unique images of China, Jiangxi province and the traditional medicine industry.

Internationally, blue and white porcelain represents China. Mature blue and white chinaware appeared during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) in Jingdezhen, an ancient city now part of Jiangxi province.

The Pavilion of Prince Teng, an imperial building that’s more than 1,300 years old, is known as one of the "Three Great Pavillions" of China. It was initially built in 653 by Li Yuanying, the son of Li Yuan, the first emperor of the Tang Dynasty(618-907), when he served as Hongzhou military governor.

Jiangxi's Xinglin culture played an important role in the history of Chinese medicine. According to nation survey statistics, Jiangxi is home to more than 3,000 kinds of medicinal Chinese materials, including over 2,800 kinds of wild botanical resources.

Last year, the province's planting area of Chinese medicinal materials reached 3.11 million mu (2,073 sq km), with an output of 660,000 tons.

The streamers in the SCO logo represent the sea, lands and roads, and symbolize ways to connect China and foreign countries. The logo carefully reflects the forum's theme of "Inheritance, Innovation, Mutual Learning and Sharing", and captures the spirit of promoting peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, equality, mutual learning and mutual benefit that the ancient Silk Road demonstrated.

The forum offers an opportunity for Jiangxi to show off its charms to the world, and will inject a new momentum into the local medicine industry.
