Experts look for innovation-oriented growth in traditional medicine

The sub-forum of 2021 SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine, with a theme of "traditional medicine and industrial development", was launched on July 30 in Nanchang, capital of East China's Jiangxi province.

During the event, a master of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and professor at Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, Wu Bingcai, noted that heritage and innovation are missions that have been entrusted by the passing of time. Every practitioner must shoulder his duty to preserve the essence of TCM culture and technology.

The tonic diet is a product that has combined traditional Chinese medical knowledge with culinary experience. As a trailblazer in the dietary therapy sector, Zhong Hongguang, executive director of the Jiangzhong Food Therapy Technology Co, believes that this profession has great potential to satisfy people's desire to minimise their intake of medication and prevent disease while enjoying delicious food.

According to Zhong, eating a herbal diet is a good lifestyle, which can improve people's health and save medical expenses.

He emphasized innovation in laws and regulations, saying that targeted management regulations should be formulated to pursue high-quality development.

Tian Jianxin, an official of the National Health Commission, hopes that food-related companies, scientific research units and social organizations are expected to deepen cooperation with their counterparts at home and abroad, and work together to create an industrial innovation and development alliance.
