Hong Kong SAR plans vision on TCM cooperation
With strong support from the state, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government has been committed to boosting Chinese medicine, actively driving its policies and regulations, personnel training and scientific innovation.
Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan Siu-chee noted that HKSAR was willing to cooperate with SCO countries to promote the inheritance, innovation, mutual learning and sharing of traditional Chinese medicine.
At present, Hong Kong is building a new monitoring center that will be specifically responsible for Chinese medicine testing and scientific research. Upon its completion, the local industry will usher in vast development opportunities.
In 1999, Hong Kong enacted regulations on TCM, established the legal framework and related standards to ensure the security and effectiveness of this sector.
