Beidou navigation system boosts audience for torch relay
The Beidou navigation satellite system aims to help those who cannot attend the 14th National Games torch relay event, in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, watch on their phones, from Aug 16 to Sept 12.
After more than three months of research and development, the Beidou system for the torch relay has entered its testing phase.

Just through scanning a QR code, people will be able to watch the torch relay through mobile terminals, with a real-time dynamic positioning accuracy of about three centimeters. A display of the route and the trajectory, as well as an introduction of the torchbearers and prime sights along the way, will also be easily accessible .
"It is expected that the technology will help lead to greater public participation in the 14th National Games, as well as show off the province's services," said Huang Gongwen, an officer from the Shaanxi Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation.
Shaanxi has built China's first full-constellation and full-frequency support Beidou system. According to Huang, the province will continue to explore more application scenarios that will benefit people's livelihoods.
