A head of the nomad tribe decided to build his capital here due to the spectacular prairie views and the plentiful supply of water.
According to historical records, workers used a mixture of white limestone powder and clay as construction materials to enhance the building, similar to what people do today using concrete.
The work took six years to complete and was consequently destroyed during a war. Today, the remains are the only city relics left of the Xiongnu ethnic group.
