Mamettursun Mamen, who works in a Xinjiang troupe, teaches his children to sing the Kirgiz traditional poem Epic of Manas in his spare time. The epic, spanning more than 230,000 lines, tells the story of the hero Manas and his seven descendants. Manas singers are highly regarded by the Kirgiz people for their good memories and narrative skills.
