Baking buns without an oven

“Now we are about to bake buns,” Amar Juma, the owner of a bun bakery in Xinjiang, told an audience during a live stream on an e-commerce platform. The buns are baked not in an oven but a nangkeng, a cylindrical furnace made of clay and wool.
