The county-level city of Ruian – administered by Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province – is reported to have vigorously expanded and improved its regional transport connections and advanced its countryside economic development, to increase its rural revitalization.

Projects have been carried out in the city in recent years to build traffic networks that run from Ruian to surrounding counties or districts, as well as to hook up the city's central towns to fast transportation.

One example of the raft of projects take place is Yongning Bridge.

With a length of 2.9 kilometers and a total investment of 4.74 billion yuan ($733.8 million), it's the first multi-functional, double-layer rail bridge integrating the functions of highways, expressways and rail transit in Wenzhou.

Officials said that when the bridge opens, it will not only become an important link for the integrated development of the north and south of Ruian – but will also advance the integrated development of Ruian and Wenzhou, as well as establish a new southern area for the Wenzhou metropolitan area.

In addition, Ruian has also striven to create a countryside that is beautiful, prosperous and harmonious – to promote coordinated development between the rural and urban areas.
