Sugar buns on trees
Tuerxun runs a tourist resort in Xinjiang’s Artux, which is known as the “hometown of figs”. Almost every local household grows figs, which they affectionately call “sugar buns on trees”. “It was difficult to store figs before, so they must be sold on the day they were picked,” Tuerxun said. Now the figs can be processed in local factories and shipped to many cities via a cold chain transportation network.
