US tech giant National Instruments Corp, or NI – which supplies computer-based instrumentation hardware and software products to engineers and scientists – recently signed a strategic agreement with Shanghai-based Zhangjiang Group, in Pudong New Area, East China's Shanghai city, on Nov 7.

The accord was signed at the 4th China International Import Expo, or CIIE, held on Nov 5-10 in Shanghai.

Under the agreement's terms, the two will establish a cooperation alliance, focusing on talent training and development and also help incubate new so-called "little giants" – which are innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, or SMEs.

"Relying on the NI's joint development laboratory, we can build a platform for whole product life cycles – featuring testing, measurements and calculations – in a bid to help SMEs accelerate prototype verifications and the commercialization of new products and new technologies," said Qiao Wei, head of National Instruments in China.

In August, NI set up its China Innovation and Development Center in Zhangjiang Science City.

The center plans to fully integrate into Zhangjiang's innovation ecosystem, helping partners and users to better participate in global competition and play a key role in the global value chain.
