Ruian hosts influential innovation conference

The 2021 Ruian Yunjiang Science and Technology Innovation Conference and the Yangtze River Delta Auto Parts Industry Innovation Forum were held in Ruian – a county-level city administered by Wenzhou in Zhejiang province – on Nov 14.

Centering on the theme of scientific innovation, 16 major projects were signed at the event covering industrial projects, scientific innovation platforms, industrial funds, talent teams and other fields.

Ruian issued a list of tasks to tackle eight bottlenecked technologies in the city, which will involve the issuing of 44.6 million yuan ($6.99 million) in grants and incentives.

The technologies focus on the integrated development of industrial supply and innovation chains, covering strategic emerging industries such as the new energy and smart equipment sectors. Enterprises, universities and institutes, R&D institutions, expert teams and other innovation entities are invited to participate in finding solutions to the bottlenecks.

Ruian also launched a platform – the Wenzhou (Ruian) Collaborative Innovation Center for Intelligent Vehicle Parts Engineers. The center, which has been customized to meet the needs of the Ruian automotive industry, will provide personalized and invaluable services for the city's automobile businesses.

In addition, a three-year action plan focusing on technological innovation was unveiled at the conference.

Under the plan Ruian will implement 12 key tasks to boost science and innovation, the transformation of research and development achievements and to support top-grade talent.
