Longwan district advances its 5G development

The first production lines at the Wenzhou 5G Global Innovation Center started trial operations on Nov 30 – marking the point when the city of Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province took a major step towards exploring the development path of its 5G industry.

Receiving an investment of 5.2 billion yuan ($816.3 million), the owner and operator of the center was said to have been attracted by the Wenzhou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone and located it in the northern area of Zhenan Technology City.

Plans are for the innovation center to construct four major carriers – a 5G Yangtze River Delta or YRD intelligent manufacturing center, a 5G cloud manufacturing national innovation headquarters, a 5G intelligent manufacturing YRD operation headquarters and a 5G innovation applications research institute. This is expected to make it the first sci-tech urban industrial complex in Wenzhou.

Under the leadership of the Party committees and governments of Wenzhou city and Longwan district, Zhenan Technology City has focused on following the path to sci-tech innovation in recent years.

To help the project settle in Longwan smoothly, Wenzhou city, Longwan district, the administrative committee of Zhenan Technology City and other 30 departments are said to have worked together to provide great services for planning and site selection, registering the company and in many other key areas.

"It is hoped that, led by the Wenzhou 5G Global Innovation Center, we can build a 5G new infrastructure industrial park, attract upstream and downstream enterprises to settle and develop a complete industrial production and supply chain with local features," said a senior official of the administrative committee of Zhenan Technology City.
