Linping in Hangzhou city is the newest district in East China's Zhejiang province. It was created on April 9, 2021, after Hangzhou – capital of Zhejiang – restructured its administrative division, dividing the original Yuhang district into Linping district and a reconfigured Yuhang, with the Grand Canal as the boundary.
The east part of the canal is Linping district, which has jurisdiction over seven sub-districts and one township. The district has 127 communities and 57 villages in total, covering an area of 286 square kilometers, with a registered population of 562,000 and a non-resident population of about 1.56 million.
