Deputy spells out importance of basic research to improve competitiveness

"The high-quality development of real economy requires science and technology to strengthen innovation. I think we should also promote basic research." Wang Dongxin, a National People's Congress (NPC) deputy from Ningxia Hui autonomous region and vice-general manager of CNMC Ningxia Orient Group Co Ltd made this remark in an interview on March 6. 

 The 10-year development plan for basic research was outlined in the 2022 Government Work Report released at this year's two sessions. According to Wang, the rapid transformation of scientific and technological innovation results from the development of basic research. It can also improve the competitiveness and strengthen risk resistance capacity of the enterprises and actively integrate into the foreign and domestic dual circulation.
