Many ordinary citizens in Tonglu county, East China's Zhejiang province have been contributing to the fight against the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

Among them is Pan Wenlian, who retired in 2015 as the Party chief of Tongjun sub-district due to illness and has since been working as a volunteer.

During the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Tonglu which started on May 6, Pan has been helping promote epidemic control and prevention policies among residents.

Another person who has provided assistance is Ji Hongwei, who donated a truck of food supplies to local epidemic control and prevention authorities on May 9. This was the second donation he made in six weeks. In early 2020, Ji also donated 3,000 steamed buns to 284 officers assigned to epidemic prevention tasks.

The local government has also been helping truck drivers deal with problems caused by epidemic prevention measures. The services include providing free meals and helping them to apply for transport permits.
