The expo is going to be held both online and offline from June 22 to 24 in Zhongning county, which has been designated as China's goji berry hometown by the State Council since 1995.
A selection of warm-up activities have been schedule, including the "Ningxia goji berry banquet" food competition and Zhongning goji berry special promotional meeting.
Themed on "shared health", formal activities will consist of international summit forums, a scientific and technological achievements release meeting, a new product promotion meeting, a supply and marketing matchmaking meeting, a live-streaming sales competition and field trips to local production areas.
Different from the previous expos, there will be an international exhibition area set to strengthen economic and trade cooperation. International guests are also expected to be invited to attend keynote conferences and summit forums.
Bilingual promotional videos will enable robust reporting on Chinese goji berry brands and primary production areas through the media of People's Daily Overseas Edition, Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, China News Agency, CGTN, French Chinese website, and Japan East Asia Radio.
The latest research results will be rolled out during the event, focusing on functional components of the goji berry and the precise manufacturing tech of high-value goji berry products. Last year, Ningxia drew the world's first genetic map of the goji berry which annotates 716 specific genes, and has developed six functional products for improving cerebral function, treating diabetes and depression. The special traditional Chinese medicine issue of Nature published the latest two research results of Su Guohui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The mascot "Ningxia Qibao" will interact with visitors with a new image of a cartoon robot. After a year of dissemination, it has gradually become popular. This lively, cute and healthy mascot has become a new business card of Ningxia.
"The goji berry industry is a green, healthy and enriching industry, and it is moving towards the diversification of Ningxia," said Wang Zixin, deputy director of the Ningxia Forestry and Grassland Administration at the press conference.
