"The agricultural industry park in our town is nice for a sightseeing tour or a holiday," said Huang Faguo, head of economic union of Xinbao town in Zhongning county, Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui autonomous region. "Many people love to bring their children to pick strawberries and flat peaches here."

In midsummer, various kinds of fruits are growing in greenhouses. The tomatoes have thin skins and liquid pulps; the flat peaches taste sweet; the grapes are tender and mellow.

The high-yielding fruits are expected to help villagers get good income. Local government officials made attempts to tackle core problems that hinder the town's development. They encouraged villages and enterprises to close ranks and support each other in expanding the industry.

In response to the town-level government's call, 11 villages raised funds to form an economic union. Joining hands with local leading enterprises, the union developed a shareholding system from which villagers can realize benefits.

From nutritious high added-value fruits to seasonal vegetables, the park offers it all for a year. In order to promote cultivation throughout the year, the park has continuously improved its infrastructure such as cold storage, warehouses, sorting sheds, roads and reservoirs.

Accordingly, the park has 19 modern solar greenhouses and 12 cold sheds. The irrigation system has also been updated to promote the integration of water and fertilizer and other water-saving technologies.

In addition, Xinbao held agricultural exhibitions and fruit-picking festivals to expand the visibility and influence of a rural cultural and tourism demonstration town.
