CAST to explore major problems in science and technology at annual meeting closing ceremony

Since the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) started exploring major problems in 2018, 130 major problems have been looked into in the past five years. These problems further ignite the curiosity and passion of scientific and technological work and lead technological innovation trends and the direction of scientific research, serving national scientific and technological development and decision-making for scientific research projects, as well as promoting self-reliance and self-improvement of high-level technology.
This year, CAST continues to explore major problems in science, engineering technology and industrial technology. So far, it has received 649 problems from 107 national associations and association alliances, eight leading enterprises and enterprise associations for science and technology. Of them 249 are frontier science problems, 247 are engineering technology problems and 146 are industrial technology problems.
After online voting from scientific and technological workers and a review and final pick by experts in relevant fields, 126 academicians finally decided on 30 major problems that will be discussed at the 24th Annual Meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology.
