Tonglu county in East China’s Zhejiang province unveiled the nation’s first provincial standards for the construction and management of youth palaces in rural areas on July 2.

In May 2021, Tonglu was included in a national pilot program to build more youth palaces, which refer to facilities that provide after-school services including training sessions, study tours and summer camps, for students, in rural areas.

That same day, the local government inaugurated 18 new youth palaces and rolled out two study tour routes and a summer camp event for students in rural areas.

In addition, nearly 50 courses related to poetry, painting and martial arts were also unveiled by youth palaces across the county.

To date, 27 youth palaces have been built across Tonglu, benefiting more than 38,000 students.
