Afri Pramadana, vice-president of SAIC General Motors Wuling Motor Indonesia (SGMW Motor Indonesia), had worked at an American car company in Indonesia for many years, and joined SGMW Motor Indonesia in 2015. He said that working at the company has offered him a completely different experience.

"When the first car rolled off the assembly line at SGMW Motor Indonesia, I felt very proud," Afri said.

SGMW Motor Indonesia occupies a total area of 60 hectares, and has developed a complete industrial chain including vehicle manufacturing, auto sales and auto-related services.

Afri said that when the company first started, vehicles produced by Wuling were not favored in the Indonesian market, but after years of development, the company has helped local consumers build up confidence by launching a wide range of high-quality products and services.

SGMW Motor Indonesia has established cooperative relationships with local companies in areas such as security assurance, catering, cleaning services, and spare auto parts, aiming to support the development of local businesses in Indonesia.

By scaling up its business in Indonesia, the company has taken up more social responsibilities to feed and foster society, which has helped change the international perception of Chinese firms in Indonesia, according to Afri.

In July 1996, Afri came to China for the first time. He then moved to Shanghai and worked at GM China and SAIC General Motors for four years.

"The most unforgettable memory for me is that Shanghai has developed so fast over the past decades, and every time I go to Shanghai, it is different," Afri said.
