New regulation promotes cosmetics development
The regulation Provisions of the Shanghai Pudong New Area on Innovative Development of the Cosmetic Industry was recently issued. Reflecting on the velocity, accuracy and stability of Pudong's policy-making, the regulation aims to smooth the innovative development of the cosmetic industry.
The implementation of the regulation strengthens the role of Pudong as a leading district in development. Considering that Pudong contributes to the quality development of the whole city, the regulation plays an important role in building Shanghai into an international shopping center.
The regulation encourages brands to develop personalized cosmetics and helps them sell at cosmetics counters. Last year, YSL, a renowned cosmetic brand, released its "lipstick printer". Currently, it is being sold at cosmetics counters in Shanghai IFC.
For a long time, only international brands of cosmetics could be seen in duty-free shops, but now, consumers can also find domestic brands there. The regulation specifies that new models and new formats in the industry should be encouraged and there will be more domestic brands making appearances in duty-free shops.
Furthermore, the regulation highlights the importance of technology. To make domestic cosmetic brands thrive, the regulation says cosmetics corporations should work together with colleges, research institutes and hospitals to develop more and better cosmetics.
