The name of the museum is Sifang Seal, which symbolizes the historical changes of CUG and represents that CUG alumni are ready to realize their aspirations anywhere in the country.
It was inscribed by Ouyang Ziyuan, an alumnus of the class of 1956. He is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of China's lunar probe project.
The museum has been in preparation since 2018. It aims to inherit the CUG spirit and cherish the memory of youth.
With a total construction area of 5,400 square meters, the museum has two floors. It takes the time line as the axis to show the glorious history of school in chronological order.
Among the exhibits, many precious commemorative items have been donated by teachers and students, including student swimming licenses from many years ago, magnifying glasses used by teachers and students during field practice, and the party flag displayed by Professor Chen Gang when he reached the top of Mount Everest.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Huang Xiaomei, secretary of the Party Committee of CUG. She said that a school history museum is a place to display and inherit a school’s spirit and culture and serve as a cultural symbol of the school.
