Chinese government opens Lingang Special Area in Shanghai FTZ
In August 2019, the Chinese government announced the establishment of the Lingang Special Area in the Shanghai FTZ, which was a major strategic move for further opening-up, facilitating overseas investment and capital flow, and realizing the free flow of goods.
Lingang Special Area opened on Aug 20, with an initial area of 119.5 square kilometers. The municipal government of Shanghai announced 50 measures for Lingang on Aug 30, which included eight major areas of relaxed regional administrative authority, talents, fiscal and finance, land use, industrial development, housing, transportation and infrastructure.
