Jinqiao: Future city of intelligent networks |  Updated:2022-11-15

By capitalizing on its advantages in the 5G industry, the Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone has become one of the most promising bases in Shanghai for multinationals to set up regional headquarters and research and development centers.

A "3+1" industrial layout of future automobiles, smart manufacturing, big video, and producers services has formed in the zone.

Through years of development, the region attracted luminary enterprises like Huawei Technologies and SAIC Motor. It built a solid foundation for the automobile industry and formed a high-quality industrial cluster covering the links of research and development, production, sale, and settlement. It also boasted advanced 5G technologies and fast-developing testing of self-driving vehicles.

The launching ceremony for "Jinqiao demonstration area of intelligent network vehicle testing" kicked off on Aug, 31, symbolizing China's first application scenario in central urban area of a megalopolis and China's first open testing road for self-driving in central urban area were put into use.  The testing road, the highest risk level in Shanghai, was 29.3 kilometers long in total. The testing scope will be gradually expanded in the future.

The zone is also home to cutting-edge research and development centers, such as Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center, and electronics and chips enterprises like Black Sesame Technologies, a top self-driving chip R&D platform.

Jinqiao will explore more application scenarios like unmanned delivery to promote the commercialization model of self-driving. It also plans to build a cloud management platform for self-driving and foster industrial ecology for future automobiles.

By integrating the construction of smart cities, intelligent transportation and intelligent driving, Jinqiao is expected to become a model for intelligent network automobile industry development and smart city construction.
