Longwan, a district of Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, has made remarkable progress in digital reform over the past year, with improved livelihoods, a stronger economy, and enhanced urban governance.

A series of digital reform projects have boosted the quality of life of Longwan residents. The district has launched an elderly care service app to aid seniors. It enables seniors to request volunteer services online. Volunteers in nearby areas will help seniors with food, bathing, chatting and shopping. "A volunteer brought a hypotensive drug to my doorstep in less than half an hour," a senior living in Longwan said.

The smart app, which is popular among local seniors, has also improved in-home healthcare for seniors.

A smart health station in Longwan's Wanshun community offers 24-hour self-service and allows residents to connect with hospitals, consult doctors "face to face" through video and buy medicine via robots.

An app for family trail, which will be launched soon, is also part of Longwan's digital reform efforts. It aims to strengthen the protection of interested parties in family disputes, offer more help to disadvantaged groups, and facilitate the online collaboration of family trail procedures.

Meanwhile, Longwan's science and technology authority has worked to quantify sci-tech enterprises' innovation capabilities through a point redemption scheme according to their technological innovation, operation, talent and credit status. Enterprises with more points can receive land, electricity and energy support, as well as honors and funds.

Longwan has fostered a digital economy industry with a focus on cloud computing and industrial Internet, 5G digital communication, photonic integration, digital trade and Lithium-ion battery new energy. In the first three quarters of this year, the added value of the digital economy's core manufacturing industry soared by 183.6 percent, while the revenue of the internet, software and information technology service industries rose by 73.7 percent, with the growth rates both ranking among the top three in Wenzhou.

The district has put equal emphasis on the digital transformation of the industrial sector. A lithium-ion battery future factory built by a Longwan-based energy company has been listed as one of the first Zhejiang future factories in 2022. Upon completion, it will help the company improve production efficiency and energy utilization, cut utilization costs, reduce defective rates and shorten production cycles.

Longwan district is also a key area for future community construction in Zhejiang, seeking to develop an eco-friendly and digitalized lifestyle in urban areas.

Furthermore, Longwan is working to increase initiative among cadres, enhance their reform abilities and boost the construction of a reform-oriented organization.
