Shanghai will hold a major shopping festival in early May to further stimulate market expectations and confidence – and accelerate the development of the city as an international retailing hub, local authorities said recently.
The 2023 Shanghai Import Shopping Festival and the Clover 55 Lifestyle Festival – on May 1-5 – is jointly being organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the China International Import Expo Bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
The event is in line with the Ministry of Commerce's requirements to create a reinvigorated retail sector and to boost consumer spending this year.
The Clover 55 Lifestyle Festival will consist of five parts: an import market, cultural exchange, a parent-child interaction section, a leisure experience and a stage performance.
The festival will also offer a three-in-one cultural tour, introducing the CIIE Culture Exhibition Center and the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) – the main venue of the China International Import Expo – among others.
The venues will be open to visitors free of charge.
