Shanghai Global Food Tour held to stimulate consumption

The Shanghai Global Food Tour, a major event that is part of the city's May 5 Shopping Festival, was launched on May 20 at Jing'an Kerry Centre with the aim of boosting the recovery of the catering industry and enriching the food culture of the metropolis.
The festival, which will run until November, will feature various activities such as global food exhibitions, afternoon tea awards, and new product launches and promotions.
During the launch ceremony, the Shanghai Restaurants Cuisine Association unveiled the first batch of food landmark restaurants and business circles that cover local specialties, delicacies from other Chinese cities, and global cuisines.
Food delivery platform Meituan then released the "2023 Shanghai Global Food Index Report" at the ceremony. According to the report, Shanghai has more than 13,000 global food restaurants, the most in China.
Statistics also show that Shanghai's dine-in consumption has been recovering steadily since June last year. In April this year, dine-in consumption had increased by 48 percent compared with the same period in 2021.
