World Dairy Industry Conference to open in Hohhot

The World Dairy Industry Conference will be held in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Aug 4-7, the organizing committee said at a press conference on July 31.
Running under the theme of "promoting the sustainable development of the world dairy industry in an innovative, cooperative, green and low-carbon path", the conference will be co-hosted by the Hohhot municipal people's government, the departments of commerce, and agriculture and animal husbandry of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and China's dairy giants Yili Group and Mengniu Dairy, both of which are based in the region.
During the conference, five series of activities will be held. On Aug 5, the world's top 10 dairy companies will attend the opening ceremony, along with China's top 20 dairy companies, internationally renowned companies in the industry chain, guests from industry organizations, and academics from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Five forums will be held on Aug 6 based on the following themes: the development of a sustainable, digital and intelligent dairy industry; the high-quality development of the seed and prataculture industries; technological innovation in the dairy industry; international cooperation on sustainable development; and trade in the international dairy industry.
An event promoting investment in the dairy industry chain will take place on Aug 7. The Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, together with the cities of Hohhot, Tongliao, Bayannuur, Ulaanqab, Hulunbuir, and Xiliin Gol League, will promote dairy-related products and projects, and sign various agreements.
A four-day exhibition on the whole dairy industry chain will also be held at the same time as the conference in the Hohhot International Agricultural Expo Park, with about 300 exhibitors participating.
Yun Xinming, an official from the Hohhot municipal government, said the conference will showcase the innovative practices that have revitalized the dairy industry in recent years and share Hohhot's, Inner Mongolia's and the whole country's achievements and experience in developing the industry.
The event will provide a dialogue platform for leading global enterprises and experts, establish a new communication and cooperation mechanism, and explore new models and paths for the green and sustainable development of the dairy industry in the new era, Yun added.
By the end of 2022, Inner Mongolia had a stock of 1.59 million cows, a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent. Milk production exceeded 7.33 million metric tons, up 9 percent year-on-year. The output of dairy products by dairy companies with annual sales revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.80 million) and above reached 4.15 million tons, growing 12.6 percent year-on-year.
