A forum on the 10th anniversary of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone was held on Sept 20 at Zhangjiang Science Hall. Chinese and foreign guests gathered at the event to review the 10-year history of the development of the Shanghai FTZ and discuss matters related to openness, cooperation and innovation, as well as the construction of the zone.
Chen Jining, Party chief of Shanghai, attended the event and delivered a speech. Dilma Rousseff, president of the New Development Bank, and Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, were also in attendance.
In his keynote speech at the forum, Gong described the Shanghai FTZ as a testing ground for China's reform and opening up, and spoke about the zone's landmark measures for promoting reform and development.
He pointed out that the FTZ will continue to upgrade itself in the coming years.
According to Guo Tingting, China's vice-minister of Commerce, the country's 21 pilot free trade zones have created 302 institutional innovation achievements that have been replicated and promoted to the whole country.
