City's pocket parks enhance urban greenery, leisure opportunities

Wenzhou has been dedicated to the construction of pocket parks in recent years, looking to bring the compact parks to residents' doorsteps and further enriching the urban landscape.

According to requirements, pocket parks should be sized from 400 to 10,000 square meters, encompass small recreational areas and green spaces, and be designed to cater to the diverse needs of residents.

A signature pocket park is already blooming at the city's Time Square in Lucheng district. It spans 8,000 square meters and contains a captivating floral landscape

The sports-oriented pocket park near the Science and Technology City Station of Line S1, with a sprawling 5,788 square meters, offers an array of exercise facilities like a tennis court and basketball playground.

The Longwan police culture pocket park, a 4,800-square-meter open square, focuses on public safety and features anti-fraud and anti-drug information.

In 2023, the city committed to the new construction or refurbishment of 100 pocket parks. Presently, approximately 70 of these parks have already undergone upgrades, while the remainder are on track for completion by year-end. These pocket parks prioritize greenery and basic amenities.
