Innovation and entrepreneurship competition concludes in Hefei

The final of the 2023 China Overseas Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were held in Hefei, capital city of East China's Anhui province, on October 22-23, concluding with an awards ceremony.

Luo Hui, member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and director-general of the CAST Department of International Affairs, and Zhang Ximing, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Anhui Provincial Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the CPC, attended and addressed the awards ceremony.

Themed on "Sharing Development Opportunities for a Joint Future", the competition aimed to bring together talents worldwide, showcase the positive image of global entrepreneurs, support national talent strategies, and strive for a bright future of opening-up, trust and cooperation.

The contest consisted of five parallel events related to life science, digital economy, green and low-carbon development, advanced manufacturing and future-oriented technologies. It set up 12 division zones in nine countries/regions and drew over 1,800 entry programs from more than 40 countries.

In the end there were five first-prize awards, 10 second-prize awards, 15 third-prize awards and 79 awards for outstanding competitors.

Domestic and foreign experts as well as representatives of investment agencies also presented their thematic reports at the ceremony. Award-winners introduced their honored projects.

Those in attendance at the ceremony included representatives of centrally-administered State-owned enterprises (SOEs), investment enterprises, and national overseas talent offshore innovation and entrepreneurship bases and parks.

During the competition, organizers also held overseas entrepreneurship projects, "China Tour" activities and maker-training camps to interpret the development trends of relevant fields. They also shared key cooperation intentions, promoted China's science and technology, talent policies, and innovation and entrepreneurship environment, shared investment resources and successful cases, and provided guidance and suggestions for the landing and cooperation of high-quality projects.
