‘Made in China’ wins Vietnamese national excellence award

In 2021, the "National Excellence Award for Construction Project Quality" was held in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Phase I of the Vietnam Yongxin Coal-fired Power Plant, constructed by China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, won this highest honor in the field of construction engineering in Vietnam.

It is the first construction project of a Chinese company in Vietnam to receive this prestigious award.

This project is located in Huyện Tuy Phong, Tỉnh Bình Thuận, Vietnam, and is known as the "Chinese giant" by local residents. It has generated over 8.67 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in its first year of operation, with an annual availability factor of 7,238 hours. This power plant has catered to the daily electricity needs of nearly one-tenth of the Vietnamese population. This achievement not only breaks the record in Vietnam but also far exceeds the approximately 4,000 hours recorded by similar power plants in China.

From its design and construction to its operation, this power plant, in the southeastern corner of Vietnam, has adopted Chinese standards, designs, technologies, and equipment. It has been praised by the leader of Vietnam as the "best-quality thermal power plant in Vietnam".

Phase I of the Vietnam Yongxin Coal-fired Power Plant is a key project that implements the Belt and Road Initiative and promotes the development of power cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

Due to the unique geographical location of the project, the construction area was located in the coastal area. Although the project team was very good throughout the construction of such a wharf, they faced challenges of construction delays due to the complex geological structure.

After continuous calculations and research by the project team, the optimized solution was ultimately approved, and construction was completed on time.

In 2017, the team received a thank-you letter which gave high recognition to the company's high-quality and its ahead-of-schedule completion of construction tasks.
