Inner Mongolian athletes shine at speed skating qualifiers

From Dec 1 to 3, the 2023-2024 China Cup Speed Skating Elite League (Changchun Station) and the 14th National Winter Games 3rd Qualifiers were held in Northeast China's Jilin province, where athletes from the Inner Mongolia autonomous region claimed two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

A total of 27 athletes from the region participated in 21 events across the men's, women's open categories, and youth categories.

Chen Lei, Qu Shiyi, and Yu Jiawei bagged first place in the men's team pursuit, while Duan Quanzheng secured the top position in the men's 1,500m.

Li Yunyuan finished second in the women's 1,000m and third in the women's mass start event. Chen Lei also clinched third in the men's 1,500m, while Gong Shipeng pocketed bronze in the men's 1,000m youth category.
