Ferretti Group, an Italian shipbuilding company known for luxury motor yachts, opened its refurbished shipyard in La Spezia, a northern Italian port city, on Friday.
The production site, dedicated to manufacturing yachts for Riva, one of the seven brands under the Ferretti Group, now boasts a total surface area of 64,000 square meters. It includes four industrial sheds for production and two additional sheds for boat painting, along with 33 berths on over 400 linear meters of docks.
The refurbishment covered both the production and management sections of the shipyard. Improvements were also made to the lounge area used to welcome yacht owners, captains, and crew members.
The Ferretti Group said the updated site, employing over 750 workers daily, including 200 direct employees, represents a strategic center for the company in the area of the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas, two arms of the Mediterranean Sea off the western coast of Italy.
The Ferretti Group was acquired by China's Weichai Group in 2012, one of the leading heavy vehicle and component manufacturers headquartered in East China's Shandong province.
